Born in New York but raised in Alabama, Kelly Kathleen Ferguson grew up confused as to who won the Civil War. She is the author of My Life as Laura: How I Searched for Laura Ingalls Wilder and Found Myself. While teaching in Lafayette, Louisiana, she is at work on a second memoir with a long title, Bama Bound: A Failed Southern Belle Returns to Dixie.
