Ann Ehringhaus

Ann Ehringhaus moved to Ocracoke Island in 1971 to teach in the one-room schoolhouse there. She left to study photography and returned to work on her first book, Ocracoke Portrait (John F. Blair, Publisher, 1988). In 1982 she bought a big island house, a former lighthouse keeper’s home, and opened a bed and breakfast, which she ran for thirty-three years. She has written three solo books and three collaborative ones. Her photographic artwork has been shown all over the Southeast, and she also practices Rosen Method emotional bodywork and Chinese acupressure and is a Reiki teaching master.  She received her doctorate in Ministry with the University of Creation Spirituality in Oakland, CA. She is most thankful for living so many years in a small and wonderful community by the ocean.
