In his Resistance series, Najee Dorsey’s mixed media and digital collages address the continuum of African American history through iconic historical references and in current events, unified with important social and political issues still pertinent today.

The artist describes his artistic process as beginning by salvaging materials from thrift and antique stores as well as the Internet, for historic portrait photographs and other imagery. He then creates a digital collage often times adding text, layers of paint, torn paper and found objects to blend textures and colors to produce richness and depth.
