Inas Omar

Inas Omar, from Cairo, Egypt, is an architect by profession who has found her true calling in helping those who want to help themselves. She does that through the NGO she co-founded, Nahdet El Mansouria for Development. She is also very active in Rotary International. Inas and her husband have a daughter, a son, and two grandchildren, and they divide their time between their home in Mansouria, near Cairo, their summer home in Nice, France, and visits to their daughter and grandchildren in Germany. Inas has fond memories of the three years she lived in the United States while her husband was studying for his Ph.D. at Cornell University. There she worked as a purchasing agent for the School of Medicine, buying white mice, frogs, and snakes, to help support her little household and their Great Dane. She recalls that “my colleagues were my friends and family, and I lacked no warmth of feelings during my stay away from home.”
