Mike Spara

Mike Spara is an actor, writer, and music-maker based in Brooklyn, New York. Before that was New Orleans, Peru, China, DC, Maryland, Brussels, Kansas, and, yes, upstate New York. He’s had as many careers as degrees (three and counting). There’ll probably be a fourth or fifth in there somewhere eventually. www.mikespara.com & @heymikespara

Ten Things I Can’t Do Without

  1. Oxygen
  2. Carbon
  3. Nitrogen
  4. Calcium
  5. Phosphorus
  6. Potassium
  7. Sulfur
  8. Sodium
  9. Chlorine
  10. Magnesium*

*Lists like this give me the panic that I’ll leave out my partner, work, family, friends, faith, purpose, growth, the sacrifice of my ancestors, the muck of privilege against the world we all deserve, among other things. So I’ll just list 10 elements we all need.**

**Still missing heavy hitters like zinc, copper, iodine, chromium, manganese, molybdenum, and that ever-elusive cobalt. (Not to mention intersectional systemic justice only available through dismantling white body supremacy.)
