Nada El Sawy

Nada El Sawy is an Egyptian-American freelance journalist based in Dubai, where she has lived since 2004. As a freelancer, she has contributed to international publications that include the New York Times, the Financial Times, and Newsweek, and local/regional media outlets that include Al Arabiya English website, The National newspaper, and Time Out Dubai.

Prior to moving to Dubai, El Sawy had worked as a reporter for the Associated Press in Los Angeles and an editorial assistant at Newsweek in New York. El Sawy received her master’s degree from Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism and her undergraduate degree from the University of Southern California. She grew up mostly in Los Angeles but has also lived in Cairo.
